Bet Smarter: A Guide to Various Wagering Strategies

In Caliente.US, you have the possibility to choose between three different types of bets. With one forecast, you can place a single or straight bet; with two or more, a combined bet; and with three forecasts or more, a system bet. Note: if you indicate more than two forecasts, the system automatically offers you a combined bet. If you prefer to place single bets or system bets, you must select the desired option.

The single or straight bet is the simplest type of bet. Choose a forecast you want to bet on, enter the amount you want to wager, and close your bet. If you correctly predict the outcome, you will win the bet.

As soon as you make two or more forecasts on two or more sporting events (for example, in two different football matches), they will automatically appear on the bet slip as a combined bet. Please note that you will only get the winnings from a combined bet if you correctly predict all the forecasts made. You can group up to twenty forecasts (twelve forecasts in live bets) on various sporting events in a combined bet and bet from a minimum of 2 pesos.

To close system bets, select at least three or more forecasts (up to eight) that will appear on the bet slip. To do this, click on “system” at the top of the bet slip with the mouse. The type of system bet you can close depends on the number of your forecasts. The system bets that you can close with the selected forecasts will be automatically displayed. Each option has an information button to see more precisely the principles of the corresponding system bet.

The significant difference compared to a combined bet is that not all forecasts have to be correct to achieve a profit. For example, a system bet 2/3 consists of three forecasts. A profit is also achieved if only two out of the three forecasts are correct. Please note that when closing the bet, the maximum profit is displayed, as indicated in the example above with three correct forecasts out of three (according to the selected example: all three forecasts are correct).

In the system bet, combinations are formed with the selected forecasts. Here’s an example: You have chosen four forecasts and opted for the 2/4 system bet. This means you are placing a total of six bets because, with four forecasts, six combinations of 2 are formed. Following the system bet principle, you can win even if only two out of the four forecasts are correct. The actual amount of winnings depends on the outcomes of the forecasts.

The more correct forecasts in your system bet, the higher your winnings. If you don’t meet the system bet criteria (e.g., in 2/4, where only one forecast is correct), you will lose the bet.

The vast majority of offered bets can be combined. Only a few, such as certain Formula 1 bets, lack this possibility and can only be closed as singles. The decision of whether a forecast can be combined with another is made by the bookmaker and depends, among other things, on the respective match or event. You will be notified if this is the case when closing the bet. Note: Bets related to the same event usually cannot be played as combined or system bets.

If one competitor is clearly superior to another, bookmakers often give underdogs a “handicap” that is added to the actual result. Example: Bayern Munich vs. Duisburg. Handicap 0:2 (2 goals are added to Duisburg); Bayern wins 1:0; with the handicap, the bet result is, however, 1:2. Those who bet on Duisburg’s handicap have won. Or: You place a Handicap 0:3 bet on the Germany vs. Northern Ireland match. The result is 2:0. According to your Handicap bet, it is calculated as follows:

0-3 + 2-0 = 2-3. Your “result,” meaning the result that matters in this case for your bet, is 2:3. If you bet on Northern Ireland in this Handicap bet, you have won.

Handicap bets are very popular, especially in sports like American football, basketball, baseball, rugby, handball, or soccer. In the case of soccer, it is commonly referred to as Asian Handicap. The various types of Asian handicaps available in betting are as follows.

1. The -0.5 or +0.5 handicap

Team A (-0.5) against Team B (+0.5). In this case, Team A is the favorite for victory, reflected in the +0.5 advantage given to Team B. +0.5 simply means that Team B will receive an extra half goal at the end of the match. If the game ends in a draw, Team B will win, as they have half a goal more than Team A. If you bet on Team B, you benefit from two possible outcomes: Team B winning or a draw. In other words, Team A must win for you to lose your bet.

2. The handicap 0 Basically, what it means is that a draw results in a push. If your team wins, you win the bet. If it’s a draw, your investment is returned as if nothing had happened.

3. The handicap 1 It works the same way as the +0.5 handicap. In this case, one of the teams has a one-goal advantage. Team A, in this case, would be the favorite, having a -1 handicap.

If you bet on Team B, Team A needs to win by at least two goals for you to lose. A one-goal victory would result in a draw, and thus, your investment would be returned. If you bet on Team B (+1), these would be the possible outcomes:

Team B wins You win
Team B draws You win (due to the +1 goal difference)
Team B loses by one goal Your bet is refunded
Team B loses by more than one goal You lose your bet

4. Handicap 1.5 This time, betting on Team B has a +1.5 handicap:

Team B wins You win
Team B draws You win
Team B loses by one goal You win
Team B loses by two or more goals You lose your bet

5. Split and Quarter Asian Handicap Compared to other sports, soccer usually doesn’t have very high scores. However, betting houses quickly diversified the available handicaps, introducing split bets, also known as quarters. If you place such a bet, your initial investment is divided into two equal amounts between two Asian handicaps. This bet can be expressed as follows: Team B +0 and +0.5. In this example, half of your investment is placed on the +0 option, and the other half on +0.5. Therefore, your profits based on the outcome will be as follows:

Team B wins You win
Team B draws You win (due to the +1 goal difference)
Team B wins by one goal Your bet is refunded
Team B loses by more than one goal You lose your bet

Head-to-Head bets are offered for sports where a direct comparison can be made between two competitors or teams (e.g., Formula 1). If you place a Head-to-Head bet on Fernando Alonso/Kimi Räikkönen for a Formula 1 race and bet on Fernando Alonso, he must finish in a better position in the official final standings than Kimi Räikkönen for the bet to be considered successful.

This bet combines two to eight selections for both the winning teams and/or the final score, based on the odds at the time the bet was placed. It involves a point spread advantage of 6, 6½, or 7 points in American Football and 4, 4½, or 5 points in Basketball in favor of the chosen team. There are no halftime teasers included in this type of bet.

Teaser Bet of: 6 Points 6½ Points 7 Points
2 Selections pay 10/11 5/6 10/13
3 Selections pay 8/5 3/2 6/5
4 Selections pay 5/2 2/1 9/5
5 Selections pay 4/1 7/2 3/1
6 Selections pay 6/1 5/1 9/2
7 Selections pay 8/1 13/2 6/1
8 Selections pay 10/1 8/1 15/2

Teaser Bet of: 4 Points 4½ Points 5 Points
2 Selections pay 10/11 5/6 10/13
3 Selections pay 8/5 3/2 6/5
4 Selections pay 5/2 2/1 9/5
5 Selections pay 4/1 7/2 3/1
6 Selections pay 6/1 5/1 9/2
7 Selections pay 8/1 13/2 6/1
8 Selections pay 10/1 8/1 15/2

TEASER BET: In the event of a tie or no action in a game involved in a teaser bet of 3 or more selections, the teaser is reduced to the next lower number of combinations. In the case of a tie or no action in a game involved in a teaser bet of 2 selections, the bet amount will be refunded.

1X2 BETS: In 1X2 bets, there are three possible outcomes, and you have to predict the correct one; it’s a classic 1X2 bet. 1 = Home Team X = Draw 2 = Away Team Outcome: 1, X, or 2. 1X2 bets usually refer to the match result at the end of regular time (exceptions are mentioned in the General Provisions or are indicated when they occur).

In 1-2 results bets, there are two possible outcomes, but only one will be correct. This type of bet is common in all sports where there is no option to bet on a draw. Additionally, there are numerous special bets that operate on this principle. For example, Federer plays against Nadal: who will win?

Banker predictions can only be made simultaneously with system bets, not with single or combination bets. If you are truly convinced of the outcome of a match (for example, if there is a clear favorite), you can make a prediction for this match as a banker in your system bet.

To achieve a win, the banker prediction must be correct, and the criteria for the corresponding system bet must be met. The winnings for a system bet with a banker depend on the number of correct predictions. If the banker prediction is incorrect or the criteria for the system bet are not met, you will lose the bet. For example, if you have closed a 2/3 system bet with a banker prediction, you win if two predictions from your system bet and the banker prediction are correct. The amount of the win will depend on the odds of the correct predictions. The maximum win for your bet (correct banker prediction and all system bet predictions correct) will be shown when closing the bet. It is also possible to include multiple bankers in a system bet.
